Dungeons & Dragons Therapy Group

Who This Group Is For This 14-week therapeutic tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) group is designed for teens (13-17) navigating anxiety, chronic worry, perfectionism, or social hesitation. It is specifically tailored for gamers, nerds, deep thinkers, and neurodivergent folk who want an action-oriented alternative or supplement to traditional talk therapy. No prior Dungeons & Dragons experience is required.

How Sessions Work Utilizing the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 ruleset, participants join an immersive, low-pressure campaign setting. Grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), therapy happens experiential-style through gameplay. Each 2-hour session involves collaborative questing where you practice making decisions under pressure, managing unpredictable die rolls, and setting interpersonal boundaries within a supportive party dynamic.

Group Objectives & Key Skills

• Distress Tolerance: Learn to remain grounded when facing uncertain outcomes or low die rolls.

• Psychological Flexibility: Unhook from catastrophic thoughts and experiment with adaptive problem-solving.

• Social Courage: Practice self-advocacy, setting boundaries, and active communication in a group setting.

• Values-Based Action: Take meaningful steps forward despite the presence of fear or self-doubt.

Schedule, Investment & Out-of-Network Insurance

• Schedule: Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CT starting October 22, 2026 (14 clinical sessions over 17 calendar weeks to accommodate holiday breaks).

• Fee: $85 per 2-hour session ($1,190 total cohort investment). I also offer a limited number of reduced-fee access seats for each cohort.

• Out-of-Network Insurance (Mentaya): While this group is private pay, I partner with Mentaya to help you seamlessly utilize your out-of-network insurance benefits. Mentaya automatically files your claims (CPT code 90853) after every session—without you touching paperwork—allowing eligible PPO clients to receive up to 80% reimbursement directly to their bank account.
