About My Clients
I support and guide folks through the process of making sustainable changes that allow for them to feel as safe as possible within their selves and environments. At times this has looked like crisis navigation and trauma reprocessing. In other sessions the focus has been on anxiety reduction or increasing self esteem. In yet other therapeutic situations the focus has been on finding reliable skills, tools, and resources to cope and reduce risk of harm to the self or others.
My Background and Approach
I come from the perspective that each person is the true expert on their own life and experience, that differences matter and I respect those differences with humility to the best of my ability, and the context that a person develops and lives in is extremely important to consider in the conceptualization of the whole human. Culture, privilege and marginalization, family norms, etc. all impact how we think of and express who we are. I come from a trauma-informed perspective and take great care to collaboratively establish safety in the therapeutic relationship. Reprocessing trauma and developing resiliency are imperative, but must not be forced, pressured, or hurried. I have experience working with folks author their own identities. This includes gender and sexuality, gender affirmation and transition support, and relational needs such as ethical polyamory. and intentional monogamy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each human is different in innumerable ways. I believe, just as strongly, that every person wants to hurt less, feel more their self on a daily basis, and find a sense of belonging in this world. I'm not here to tell you exactly what that looks like, but I am committed to helping you get there in a away that is sustainable for you.
