About My Clients
I support people with a wide variety of concerns and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals in navigating relationship challenges (familial, romantic, platonic), exploring their sexual or gender identities, and traversing stressors related to parenting, school, work, or other sources. I strive to work from an antiracist, LGBTQA+ affirming, HAES-informed perspective.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a person-centered narrative approach to therapy which means we will focus on helping you explore your remarkable life experiences while building trust through a collaborative dialogue. My approach has been described as warm, validating and filled with curiosity and my priority is to create a non-judgemental space for us to help you work towards your goals. Some clients work with me to explore childhood experiences while others want to focus on more recent challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that counseling is a collaborative process between me, the counselor and you, the client, in which our ultimate goals are growth, health, and a mindful understanding of the world. I define health as harmony between one’s internal and external experiences and the ability to experience confidence and connectedness. I view clients in the context of their own experiences and believe that all individuals are experts of their own lives. I see early life experiences as critical moments that shape our understanding of the world around us. I view conversations surrounding identity and culture as a crucial part of creating a safe, strong therapeutic alliance. In my capacity as a counselor, I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to take risks and initiate conversations about aspects of our relationship including identities of sexual orientation, gender, cultural and ethnic identity, body size, and ability.
