Everyone expects you to be the “perfect” mother, the perfect “wife”, the “perfect” person, I’ve been there.

About My Clients

I work with new mothers, adults, and adolescents and will meet the client where they are based on their individual needs. Feeling better and finding a balance in your relationships is achievable. Don’t try for the unattainable goal of perfection, instead make your life better by recognizing your own abilities and weaknesses and emphasizing your own strengths while dealing with the weaknesses. I believe that each person is capable of many strengths and my goal is to help empower these strengths.

My Background and Approach

The tools that I utilize and have been perfecting over my career is based in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy. We can awaken the mind as to the importance of early childhood events and how they can shape our personalities. We will address the unconscious mind and explore deep rooted feelings that can affect our future behaviors. My goal is to provide new skills for you to be able to utilize in the real world. We will be able to identify and address situations, thoughts, and emotions that can be problematic. This can help you understand these experiences and to make changes if needed. By helping identify cognitive distortions using the ABC model we can work together by utilizing rational thinking in order to respond in a healthier way. It is difficult to change but by reframing your negative thoughts this can lead you to a more positive way of feeling and in turn more helpful behaviors in the future.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Most mothers are hesitant to seek therapeutic treatment due to being labeled as a “bad mom” or not being able to “do it all.” I know from my own personal experience that being a new mother is much more complicated than society likes to admit. Nobody tells you how all-consuming it can be to have newborns. They rely on you for everything. On top of that your body undergoes hormonal changes to put you back to your pre pregnancy hormonal state and it seems like that none of your friends and family understand your new responsibilities. I learned that asking for help doesn’t make you weak it just makes you human. Being able to find your voice, learn what your needs are and communicating them to your partner and family is vital. I will help you deal with these issues and help you being comfortable in the uncomfortable.
