About My Clients
I believe that we all have a deep desire to feel connected to ourselves and to others. But often times, this longing doesn't translate into actually experiencing that connection. Instead, we find ourselves in the same patterns and cycles we always have, and grow increasingly tired of "not feeling better." We might be a good fit if you feel like you've been telling the same stories about yourself in therapy for years, but haven't experienced a shift.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in working with developmental and attachment trauma through an integrative practice that draws primarily from NARM and IFS. These modalities go beyond traditional talk therapy to incorporate neuroscience and somatic practices, which are both shown to have great impact on healing. My work aims to repair the pain of your past by addressing it via the present. This is because when we work through in-the-moment distress, we end up discovering unhealed wounds of the past. As we do this in our sessions, I rely primarily on the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM) and Internal Family Systems. NARM is a cutting edge trauma therapy that is developmentally-oriented and neuro-science informed. It is an advanced clinical training that is specifically targeted at complex attachment, relational, and developmental trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The belief that is the bedrock of my practice is that we are all human and each of us deserves to be treated as such. In the context of therapy, this means that you are not an object that we are here to "fix." So often (especially in American culture, and especially if you are not white/a man/hetero/monogamous/insert any marginalized population here), we are de-humanized and stripped of complexity. We are made into "good" or "bad," and we do the same to the people around us. In therapy with me, I will point to the moments when you begin to objectify yourself, so that together, we can bring you to greater acceptance of your fullest, most complex self.
