About My Clients
Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, focus/attention, or a combination of these. Although the bulk of my experience is with young children with special needs, I do have experience working with all kinds of populations including adults, the elderly, teens, young adults, and children. I try my best to create an authentic connection with each of my clients to make sure they feel comfortable to share their feelings open and honestly.
My Background and Approach
Art therapy is a distinct discipline that incorporates creative methods of expression through visual art media, and can be the bridge to the unconscious mind. For some, the process of making art is therapeutic, and for others, the conversation prompted by the artwork made can be enlightening, and sometimes the art can become a vessel that can hold some of the negative thoughts and feelings someone has. A common misconception about art therapy is that you have to be an artist in order to benefit from this form of therapy, which is simply not true. Art therapy is for all ages, skill levels, and languages too. Art is one of the most beautiful universal languages that can be understood no matter which language you speak.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, I understand what it feels like to be marginalized, the strain that can cause between families, friends, and coworkers. I use my experiences to be empathetic and understanding with any and all client that I work with and help them to find a solution that best fits their situation. Because when it comes down to it, we are all human and we all have our own obstacles to overcome, and needing some help from time to time is never a bad thing.
