About My Clients
Do you struggle with feeling unreal or feel disconnected from yourself? Does the world around you feel strange and unfamiliar? Do daily tasks like going to the store or meeting up with friends fill you with anxiety? Do you often feel like you have to “fake” your way through interactions until you're on the verge of a breakdown? If feelings of anxiety and unreality have left you feeling paralyzed, I can help you work towards a solution and gain a sense of inner peace.
My Background and Approach
My name is Zach Walters and I am a human before I am a therapist. I have had my own struggles: addiction, recovery, and overcoming anxiety/dissociation symptoms. Whether you deal with anxiety, depression, trauma, or obsessive thinking, we can work together to build a new lens to see the world through. I specialize in working with teenage and adult clients who struggle with dissociative symptoms (feelings of unreality/separation from self), anxiety, and/or substance abuse as part of their mental health issues. Since 2020, I have helped clients across a variety of settings to recover and find fulfillment. I used Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to assist clients in learning to relax, enjoy hobbies, navigate difficult relationships, find their identity, and connect with others on a deeper level. If you are feeling stuck, helpless, hopeless, or overwhelmed, you’re in the right place! Schedule a free consultation to get a new perspective on your problem.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am the therapist that says things that you never think your therapist would say, and I find that humor often helps in approaching problems. Having an authentic relationship with my clients is the top priority for me, and I don’t believe in being a “therapy robot”. I provide a highly supportive, fun (yes, fun), and focused environment to help clients take tangible steps towards a more fulfilling life. You might find it helps just to talk to someone that relates to feelings that “normal” people don’t understand, but we can do more than that. When you are ready, we will work together to come up with concrete goals and determine what progress looks like to you. I am passionate about the work I do and helping people to enjoy living life again is of utmost importance to me. I won’t ever ask you to do something I wouldn’t be willing to do, and yes, I go to therapy myself. If you want a real, authentic human relationship with a therapist who has "been there", try me!
