About My Clients
I work primarily with survivors of abuse and other traumas who are ready to move beyond their past into a fuller version of themselves. Perhaps your reactions don't make rational sense to you or your loved ones. Maybe old coping strategies no longer cut it anymore. It can be confusing, terrifying and lonely to navigate the turbulent waves of the storm inside of our bodies. Yet it can also be a turning point, a moment to expand into a deeper version of ourselves and move toward the life we want.
My Background and Approach
Using a relational approach infused with curiosity, authenticity and humor, I offer a compassionate space for you to connect with your deepest self-- beyond triggers, fears and old wounds. My passion is in combining mind-body therapies (Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, Hakomi) with modern neuroscience research about survival responses and how our bodies respond to trauma and stress. Through this process, I can help you build both cognitive and intuitive understanding of yourself and your past. The more you understand how your body works, the easier it is to bring kindness and compassion to your quirks, triggers, and pain points. I work most effectively with individuals who are deep feelers and thinkers, who view therapy through the lens of personal transformation rather than the alleviation of unwanted symptoms. This process is not one-size-fits-all! We will work together to discover what you need to health and thrive, and create a therapy environment that fits YOUR specific needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal and professional experience has shown me that, the more we can understand and befriend our experience, the greater capacity we have for exploration, growth and transformation. But in order to walk this road, safety is paramount. This is especially true for those who have experienced trauma and abuse, no matter the type. I am a relational therapist, which means that I see the therapist-client relationship as our most valuable tool in creating the healing you may be seeking. I find that the most profound healing happens when a therapist and client commit to a therapeutic relationship that is authentic and real. My commitment to you is that I will see you as human being with unique experiences, strengths and hardships-- not as a diagnosis or collection of symptoms. I will be there with you in your tender moments of grief, confusion, and despair, but also meet you in the many moments of connection, joy, and playfulness that will often arise in our time together.
