About My Clients
My ideal client is a teen or young adult navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or identity formation. I work best with individuals who are thoughtful, motivated to grow, and open to self-reflection. Whether you're adjusting to college, exploring career paths, or seeking clarity in relationships, I provide a warm, practical approach to help you build confidence, resilience, and direction in your life.
My Background and Approach
I've focused on working with young people for over 20 years, and have worked with them at every level of mental health care. It's important to me to make you feel comfortable, safe, and empowered to work on things in therapy that have felt too challenging to work on on your own. I am educated in many approaches to therapy, but really gravitate toward a psychodynamic approach that acknowledges how our relationships shape us. I also love the Internal Family Systems model. If therapy is working, you won't need it forever, because you'll be learning skills, gaining insights, and making changes. Thus, my goal is always to keep your goals in mind, equip and empower you to reach them, and ultimately put myself out of a job. If you start running out of things to talk about in therapy, we're doing the work successfully!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The role of psychotherapist is ultimately a role of advocacy. We help people advocate for what they need to themselves, to those they are in close relationship with, and within the communities and systems they find themselves in. Thus, I am wholeheartedly affirming of any and all lifestyles and orientations that don't harm anyone and allow a person to live a fulfilled and authentic life. The diversity and variety of the human experience are what make it so amazing! As a cis het white male, I have enjoyed tremendous privilege in my life and very little persecution. But I have committed to using this privilege for good by listening to and amplifying minority voices, educating myself on lifestyles and experiences beyond my own, and ensuring my therapeutic services are available to as wide a variety of people as possible.
