About My Clients
I work with children 8+ and adults, autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, struggling with with sensory differences, regulation, anxiety, social aspects of life, managing chores or food, meltdowns, past trauma, overwhelm, burnout, etc. I look forward to collaboratively figuring the "why" behind your struggles, helping you heal, and finding coping strategies and adaptations that work. Also offer guidance to parents.
My Background and Approach
I approach each client as an individual. As a neuroaffirming provider, I look for ways to help my clients thrive without changing the essence of who they are as neurodivergent people. As a trauma-informed therapist, I always collaborate with clients and am clear in advance about different approaches and strategies that can be used. Different strategies work for different people, and we will work to find the ones that are a fit for you or your child. Depending on your or your child's needs, we can tackle past experiences, discuss conceptual issues, or spend time learning concrete skills (managing anxiety, managing laundry, morning routines, conversational skills, etc). I also help parents understand and confidently parent their neurodivergent children. I have been working with neurodivergent children and adults for almost 15 years, and I truly enjoy it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In terms of my work, I think that many conditions under the neurodivergence umbrella are misunderstood. I see children being misunderstood and treated punitively in schools. And I see adults struggling life-long with the consequences of their early experiences of not being supported and being judged. I think that finding a positive identity as neurodivergent person is very important, and is fully possible. I also think that with focused work using a neuroaffirming lens, it is possible to improve many areas of life, such as self-esteem, daily functioning, social satisfaction, mental health, regulation, etc.
