About My Clients
Clients seen are ages 5-25 with symptoms related to Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, or ASD. An official diagnosis will be made during treatment. Yolanda Wilson Mental Health provides biopsychosocial assessments to determine the diagnosis. The practice uses Play Therapy for young people struggling with Big Feelings. Play is how young people communicate, especially those experiencing Anxiety. Yolanda Wilson Mental Health uses CBT for older ages educating on how thoughts, feelings, and actions coincide.
My Background and Approach
Yolanda Wilson has been an LMSW since 2019 and in practice as a Mental Health Provider since 2022. Yolanda has worked with individuals who are on the Spectrum, people who identify as LGBTQIA, people who are HIV positive, and people just struggling to make sense of life. Yolanda is currently working to become a Registered Play Therapist by going through Heartland Play Therapy for certification. Yolanda has a private practice in Topeka, KS where she treats youth, teens, and young adults with heart, hope, and healing. It is Yolanda's hope to serve the community who has supported her for many decades. Yolanda wants to guide youth ages 5-25 into a more positive mindset by using the tools learned in therapy. The world is not always positive or fair, but our approaches can help heal us nevertheless.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Yolanda is a faithful believer in God but allows others to find their own path on this journey of life. Yolanda believes all people deserve respect and that rights should not be earned but given freely to everyone on this rock called Earth. This includes People of Color, the LGBTQIA community, Christians, Jewish, Buddhists, Democrats, Republicans, and anyone else who identifies as a human being. All people are welcome in Yolanda's practice, as long as respect is given and received. Yolanda's practice strives to be a Safe Space for anyone who walks through the door. Yolanda's passion is to guide and support youth who may struggle with differences such as ASD and ADHD. Yolanda knows what it is like to be a youth dealing with Depression and Anxiety and wants to be someone who is available to young people with similar issues. Life is hard and therapy is not an easy fix. Yolanda brings patience, understanding, as well as the knowledge and skills to help clients begin to see the other side.
