About My Clients
My approach to therapy is existential, relational, evidence-based, and evolution-minded. The main thing I do is give you a space where you can do serious work (which includes both wandering/wondering/exploring and focusing/challenging/examining). If you want to change your life, understand it doesn't happen overnight, and are curious - then reach out.
My Background and Approach
The task of growing, growing up, raising children, and being in a family and society is simply too big to do without help. Being a human being is an enormous task, but when we live with bravery, integrity, humor, fun, spontaneity, and discipline, we can learn to forge happiness and well-being even in the midst of profound struggle. Therapy is about learning how to be in your life in a more satisfying way, but it’s also about learning to be with other people. If we decide we are a good match to work together, I can guarantee that I will do my best to accompany you, learn about you and your life, compassionately confront you, ask you questions others may not have the bravery or respect to ask you directly, and witness you in the broadest range of your emotions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I use plenty of labels to describe myself, and as a multi-cultural person I am committed to cultural competency for all my patients. That being said, cultural competence is just the beginning of witnessing a person’s soul and helping them face themselves, their fears, their deepest needs. For that, you need a therapist who has had true contact with themselves, which enables them to meet others, as well. I do that work all the time, every day. I love human beings and our minds with fierce devotion. All of the “isms” that inhabit society profoundly shape, limit, and propel our lives, and yet human life is richer than any one identity could encapsulate.
