About My Clients

Are you tired of repeating the same patterns that make you feel miserable? Have you ever wondered what drove you to make these choices? I support people to demystify their subconscious patterns, feel better, and move towards actual changes they want. Getting closer to your core self and the wounds could be terrifying. But that's why I'm here. Together, we will gently explore your thoughts and emotions, get to know your inner conflicting parts, and update the old patterns to meet your new needs.

My Background and Approach

Since graduating from Columbia University, I have worked as a community therapist and bilingual school counselor in Queens, NY for over 5 years. From my experience in supporting adolescents and parents in school, I noticed that teen behavioral problems often stem from their family dynamics. Many defiant behaviors are just symptoms of the client's poor relationships with others and the self. Since then, I have focused my work on understanding the underlying wounds that triggered the unhealthy coping strategies. As we understand what drives us to choose, we have the freedom to choose AGAIN. It is the relationship that heals. When we work together, I will provide a safe environment for us to develop trust and alliance. I'm looking forward to witnessing your new freedom.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

With an early passion in psychology, I moved from China to the U.S. when I was 17. Like most immigrants, I had an idealized image of the American society when I just got here. Gradually, I started to see things are not perfect and plenty of people are treated unfairly. So I focused my graduate studies on the identity development of racial minorities in the U.S. It is empowering to understand and embrace the uniqueness in each one of us. Many people avoid anger, but I believe anger is our advocate. It's our body's most honest and direct method to tell us something is not right! If your anger shows up in our work, I will create space for it and invite you to together acknowledge and explore what message it carries. My experience as an Asian immigrant enhanced my understanding of the humanity and struggles in all of us. Working with people from all over the world taught me how to be culturally sensitive. Give me a call if you want to talk more!
