About My Clients
Wondering if your relationship can be repaired after countless efforts? Feeling lost as a parent, unsure how to support your adolescent through depression? Or are you a woman struggling to adjusting to motherhood? I help couples navigate communication breakdowns, infidelity, marriage, entering parenthood, and divorce. I support parents in reducing adolescent depression while managing your own stress. I empower women to create the motherhood that you desired.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Master's degree in Applied Psychology from Tsinghua University in China before pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. I then completed advanced training in couple and family therapy, through a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University, specializing in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy. As a professor at Iona University, I've trained many therapists and published extensively on psychotherapy. Using an integrative systemic therapy approach, I tailor my treatment to meet your unique needs and background. My therapy style is goal-oriented, collaborative, and compassionate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the inherent strengths within you and your relationships that can lead to meaningful change. Life is full of challenges, and I have had the privilege of witnessing clients at their lowest points who, through resilience, found the strength to rise again. My role is to help you clear the obstacles that hold back those strengths. Having lived in both China and the U.S., I value the beauty of diverse perspectives and have learned the importance of connecting with others and understanding different viewpoints, even amid disagreement.
