Hi, I'm Yaakov Bekhor AMFT, I'm a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic therapist offering IFS, mindfulness, spiritual, and depth psychology.
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA
Supervised by Megan Mansfield, PsyD
I work with individuals that are struggling with individual anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, and/or cultural anxiety. Anxious thoughts and feelings can overactive one's nervous system, causing one to be in a constant state of flight/fight/freeze/fawn, creating difficulties in focus, motivation, and self-assurance. Through Mindfulness and Self-Compassion I will help you regulate your nervous system, and work with your anxious "parts" to promote groundness and resilience
I work with individuals that tend towards "co-dependendent" friendships and partners. Co-dependency can stem from weak self-worth and self-esteem resulting from ego-centric parents and emotional neglect/abuse. By developing a stronger SELF one can find greater agency in their relationships, and find greater self-reliance and self-assurance in work and relationships.
I work with individuals that strive towards spiritual growth in therapy. I strongly believe that healing burdens inevitably creates space for spirituality, and that healing is an opportunity for greater spiritual growth and spiritual connection.
Are there parts of you dislike or resent and wished they'd go away? most of us do. With IFS we will work with the most dysfunctional "protectors" parts of you, and understand how they took on such extreme roles, because even your most extreme were once helpful. Once we get to know these parts we will find out what "burdens" (traumas) they carry and help them release it. Repeating this process will create more Self and harmony in your system.
The unconscious mind is always hinting to us what's coming out of our shadow desiring to be integrated into the conscious mind. Dreams, art, and creative activities can carry messages from the "unconscious" hinting us what parts are "ready" to integrate. Our Shadows hold parts of us we have hidden during our life because we or other deemed them inappropriate. Through synchronicity and intuition we can bring repressed parts into conscious "light".
therapy to work requires awareness, and what better way to access the present moment than attuning with the breath. In my practice i will make use of the breath to bring you into the present moment, and use various meditation techniques to increase mindfulness.
Do you struggle with low self-esteem? well it's probably not your fault, you were raised by parents that did not affirm your abilities and nurture you emotionally. If that's the case, we will look at those parts that did not receive adequate nurturing and "re-parent" them with love and compassion, which in turn will create self-esteem and self-confidence in your system.
Life is difficult as is, but it can get really challenging during Life transitions. When we don't have protective factors like our routine or job security, our "inner critics" come alive and can doubt the choices and changes you're making, making it difficult to make choices or stick to the "plan". Yet, this also an opportunity to work through those doubtful parts that were never heard. By doing such we can create more resilience in your system during moments of transition.
