About My Clients
I specialize in working with people going through life transitions, and couples who want to work through problems in their relationship. I'm trained in helping unstick traumatic memories and unhelpful stories about who we are. I also have experience coming alongside those grieving the loss of a loved one, or trying to find a way to thrive in chronic pain/illness. Overall I tailor my approach to what you need, and flex based on your goals for therapy
My Background and Approach
I have a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, am trained in Brain-spotting, and the prepare/enrich couples counseling approach. I specialize in grief, life/cultural transitions, couples counseling, and trauma processing. I combine these specialties to help people understand their stories, and choose the lives they want to live. I have been working with people in the mental health field for over ten years, and use these experiences to help unravel the complexity of our lives, to form simple steps we can take to gain control over what feels like insurmountable problems. I have also lived in multiple countries and moved around a lot in my childhood, the experience has helped me work with clients from many different backgrounds, countries and belief systems.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I belief real change and healing comes in the context of trusting relationships. So I bring my real and full self into a session. I am not wooden, or overly clinical. I think we need to connect human to human for you to really feel seen and understood. So I try to be a real person, while also bringing my experience and training to help give insight into what you're going through. The approach isn't for everyone, and I like to take the first session or two to make sure we are a good fit and you feel comfortable in the session. Building that trust is key! I also believe there are many roads to the good life. I don't try to shape my clients into what I think success is, but instead work hard to understand what success means to you and think about what I can do to help you get there. Finally, I think we are the best version of ourselves when we feel loved and genuinely cared for. I strive to bring that approach into every session, and help you feel cared for and valued before anything else
