About My Clients
I am proud to serve adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, anger as well as other negative emotions and thoughts. People that tend to get the most out of working with me are those who are feeling stuck and ready to try something different; to show up and move towards what is important to them. I am happy to be of service to patients from a variety of backgrounds and both my research and clinical work have emphasized health among LGBTQ+ individuals.
My Background and Approach
I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tulsa in 2020, a program that focused on Cognitive Behavior Therapies (CBTs). I completed my predoctoral internship at a VA medical center in Massachusetts in 2020 in a program that emphasized Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Following this, I completed two postdoctoral fellowships at a VA healthcare system based in Charleston, South Carolina which provided training in healthcare quality improvement and health services research, the last of which ended in 2024. After these fellowships I transitioned into a role as a staff clinical psychologist at that same VA provider therapy and assessment services for Veteran patients. My therapeutic specialty is in ACT and CBT which help patients better understand and manage their emotional and psychological experience. These therapies have demonstrated significant improvements for patients suffering anxiety, depression, and a range of other mental health concerns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Through my own struggles, I have come to understand and respect that life provides no shortage of challenges. It took me a long time to realize the futility in trying to completely get rid of certain feelings and only hang on to others; to try to avoid the "bad" memories and only keep the good; to recognize that just because my mind gives me a thought doesn't mean it's a fact. I have come to embrace flexibility in life, learning how to relate differently to my internal experience or "what shows up" for me, so that I can reconnect with and move towards what is important to me: my values. Currently my primary values consistent of being sincere, responsible, flexible, compassionate, accepting, and curious. In pursuit of these I commit to volunteering for LGBTQ+ organizations, reproductive and healthcare rights groups, and try to remain active in housing justice endeavors. I also try to live my values in the day-to-day moments as well. I hope I can help you do the same.
