About My Clients

I work primarily with adults who are coping with trauma or loss, long-standing emotional pain, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, or major life transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful and motivated, but feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand or have found that prior therapy did not go far enough. They are often seeking a deeper, more meaningful therapeutic experience.

My Background and Approach

I am a New York State–licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience in private practice and medical settings. I work with adults coping with trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, and major life transitions, including those who have struggled for many years. My work is grounded in an insight-oriented, psychodynamic approach, helping clients understand long-standing emotional patterns and internal conflicts that continue to shape the present. When helpful, I also work in a more focused and structured way. I have specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and complex trauma. In addition to my private practice, I have spent 30 years as Director of Psychological Services in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. This background allows me to bring depth and perspective to our work together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that therapy works best when it takes place in a relationship that feels respectful, thoughtful, and emotionally safe. I value curiosity, honesty, and compassion, and I approach my work with deep respect for each person’s history, resilience, and lived experience. Emotional suffering often makes sense in the context of one’s life, relationships, and circumstances, and understanding that context can be deeply healing. I am committed to practicing in an inclusive and affirming way and strive to be attentive to how trauma, health, aging, culture, identity, and social context shape a person’s experience of themselves and the world. I believe therapy is most helpful when it moves at a manageable pace, supports reflection and understanding, and is shaped collaboratively around meaningful goals.
