About My Clients
I work with people who are navigating the tension between what feels most aligned with who they are & the pressures/expectations from external factors like family, communities, & society. Unfortunately, many people experience feelings of shame or confusion during this process, making it difficult to embrace their true selves (values, beliefs, identity, passions, preferences) & causing them to settle for a life that doesn’t reflect what’s truly important to them.
My Background and Approach
As a result of my own privilege, it wasn’t until my early twenties that I became aware of the unique hardships that my friends who were part of marginalized communities faced. That because of factors like nontraditional family of origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, or ethnicity their navigation of values, faith, and identity looked completely different from my own. As a result, I developed a heart for individuals who are deconstructing old beliefs/social constructs and learning to fully embrace and accept who they are and what they want for their lives. Through evidence-based practices such as EFT Tapping and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) techniques, I’ll help you overcome any limiting beliefs/mindsets and explore the integration of your beliefs, values, and culture with the truest version of yourself so that you can live a meaningful life and have fulfilling relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While my degree, training, and years of clinical experience are valuable-it’s what we have in common that truly allows me to best show up and support you. We’re human, meaning that despite our best efforts, we’ve still lived through seasons of heartbreak, confusion, doubt, disappointment, fear, worry, sadness, rejection, and so much more…While our stories aren’t the same, I believe that you and I are both capable and deserving of loving ourselves and the life we create, no matter what our differences are. I want you to know there is no shame in redefining your sense of self, embracing yourself fully, examining your relationships, and shifting into a positive mindset. My commitment to you is to make sure that you feel safe, understood, and valued every step of the way which is why I refer to my practice as "a refuge for reconstruction".
