About My Clients
You may be carrying something from years ago, or dealing with anxiety that never quite settles. Maybe a relationship keeps repeating the same painful pattern, or you are navigating real change. Some clients want practical coping skills for daily life. Others want to understand the history and patterns shaping how they experience the world now. I work with adults in Knoxville, TN and by telehealth across Tennessee and Michigan, meeting each person wherever they are starting from.
My Background and Approach
hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor, offering therapy in Knoxville, TN and by telehealth across Tennessee and Michigan. Before private practice, I spent nearly a decade in domestic violence advocacy, program management, and court advocacy work. That background shapes how I practice now, grounding trauma work in a firsthand understanding of how systems and relationships actually fail people. I draw on trauma-informed care, CBT, and DBT for practical skills clients can use in daily life, alongside psychodynamic work, attachment-based approaches, and parts work to understand the history and relational patterns underneath. The balance between these shifts based on what moves a client forward. In session, this means clients build direct tools for managing anxiety and stress while also doing the deeper work of understanding why a pattern formed. Sessions are collaborative and paced to what each client can actually hold.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a rural part of the Southeast, and that shapes how I think about access to care. It is part of why I offer a sliding scale option for clients who need it. I believe strongly in meeting people without judgment, wherever they are starting from, and I believe in exploring and travel and the kind of challenge that comes from stepping outside what is familiar. Growth tends to happen at the edges of comfort, not in the middle of it. Outside of work, I spend time outdoors, usually kayaking, and share my life with three rescue dogs. I believe in approaching both people and animals with patience, and in building trust slowly rather than expecting it upfront.
