About My Clients
In a world that often asks us to disconnect from ourselves, it can be difficult to show up as fully and authentically as we’d like. Trauma, external pressures, and social systems and institutions often cause us to disavow our own insides. Whether you feel like a misfit or find yourself grappling with a major or unconventional life transition, depth-oriented mental health counseling with me at Open Edge Psychotherapy can help you remember and return to yourself on your own terms.
My Background and Approach
My work is grounded in a psychodynamic perspective. Psychodynamic therapy considers how our early experiences and relationships can shape the ways we experience ourselves, other people, and the world around us. Those patterns aren't necessarily obvious. They can show up in the relationships we choose, the things we avoid, the expectations we carry, or the ways we respond when we feel vulnerable. In therapy, we can begin to notice those patterns together. That doesn't mean reducing everything about you to your childhood or searching for a single explanation for your pain. It means making room for complexity—for the possibility that different parts of you may want different things, that your responses may make more sense than they initially seem, and that change often requires more than simply knowing what to do.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In all things, I consider it essential to provide culturally-responsive and trauma-informed counseling that considers the macro and micro systems in which we live and breathe. I strive to create spaces where clients feel genuinely seen and heard. Come as you are—I will meet you there.
