About My Clients
THERAPY CAN BE FUN, FREEING, AND INSPIRING! But you're hesitant since you currently feel empty, hopeless, hollow, and shameful. Every day is a struggle due to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem. Perhaps your family is falling apart and your child is suffering. Maybe there are cultural confines that have left you or your child feeling confused and shackled. I help people who are dealing with depression and anxiety experience a sense purpose by finding a voice they never knew they had.
My Background and Approach
You probably want to know that I graduated with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch; or that I spent two years studying “Gestalt Therapy"; or that I used to work with victims of abuse and crime as well as children in special education who were considered “emotionally disturbed". These were important to shaping who I am, but let me tell you some other experiences that have truly defined my life… I spent five weeks living in an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal, and I’ve volunteered there since 2004. I was put on academic probation twice as an undergraduate. I have a deep love for the ocean and spend my off-time scuba diving and doing underwater photography. I had the most lovable 100-pound pit bull, Kissimmee, who died in 2018. I spent four and a half months traveling from Barcelona, Spain, to Bangkok, Thailand, where I ran with the bulls in Pamplona and reconnected with lost family members in China. All of these experiences have shaped me and how I conduct therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take the same zeal and zest that I have for life into the therapy room with my clients. I believe that therapy can enlighten and inspire people to live their lives authentically. When therapy is at it's best, there is a give and take, an ebb and flow that happens between two people that catalyzes change, growth, and understanding. I believe that people can take responsibility for their lives and deal with the challenges that are thrown to them.My goal is to empower you to take control of your life by dealing with the issues that have not been resolved or those that you fail to be aware of. It could be scary and uncomfortable but growth happens when we are in an uncomfortable state. It won't be easy but I can promise you that I will be your ally during this journey of growth and discovery.
