About My Clients
Relationships are hard. Having the skills and knowledge of healthy relationships can help. My clients learn and practice. We will create a safe space where you can be authentic with yourself, or with your partner. You will be able to take the skills home with you to create something different. Something safer. My Background and Approach
I earned my Masters in Social Work at Tulane University in my hometown of New Orleans. After practicing with teens, adults, couples, and families, I pursued my interest in understanding relationships and earned my PhD in Marriage and Familiy Studies at The Union Institute. I have extensive training in couple and family therapy. I am certified in Imago Relationship Therapy and I am on the academic faculty of Imago Relationships International. I have authored/edited three books and multiple book chapters and articles on couples therapy. I am professor and program director of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Gwynedd Mercy University where I have taught for 20 years. I also teach couples counseling and adolescent counseling at the graduate level. I have helped hundreds of individuals, couples, and families live and feel better. And that makes me happy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people do best when they feel safe and they have happy, connected relationships. Things don't make us happy. Good, safe, attached relationships do. I work with people to help them develop these relationships, starting with me. You will feel important, listened to, and validated without judgement when we meet. Good relationships are key to happiness. I was born and raised in New Orleans where we have a culture of "Joie de Vivre"--the exuberant joy of life. And that should be our goal.
