My Background and Approach
Clients will find Dr. Tran as warm and genuine, yet direct and interactive. She understands the innate desire for authentic human connection where one is truly heard. Therefore, she’s intentional about providing a healing environment where people feel supported to express vulnerability and explore root causes to find solutions for their concerns. She helps individuals seek meaning and insight into how their past/current lived experiences affect self-perception, relationships, emotions, and identity. By incorporating multicultural and contextual factors, she ensures a holistic understanding of her client’s personhood. Dr. Tran tailors her treatment by integrating multiple frameworks of evidence-based psychotherapies. She offers a space for growth through active participation, emotional validation, concrete strategies, and healing through a corrective interpersonal relationship. Based on the client’s preferences, she implements written, experiential, and creative techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the greatest change comes from authentic connection you have with someone. I strive on building a caring relationship that is mutual and productive. As humans, we develop behaviors and thoughts from various experiences that inform how we should continue to function, many times out of survival. I really loved volunteering at Texas A&M Helpline because of the opportunities to hear so many stories. Change happened when I just listened. Cultural diversity is important to me which was why I spent my entire graduate school career researching how to best train practitioners to care for diverse clients from multiple backgrounds and lifestyles. It is my honor to hear about yours.
