About My Clients
I often support clients who are navigating relationship issues, caregiver stress, grief, complex trauma or anxiety. I also offer unique therapeutic perspectives when supporting those processing childhood rejection, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, university stress, or careers in the arts. Clients who work with me gain a more accurate understanding of what is really going on for them and in their relationships, and make positive changes resulting in greater satisfaction & functioning.
My Background and Approach
My clinical practice is informed and enriched by my career as a professor, practitioner, director, and administrator in the performing arts. I have directed or taught theatre courses at some of the most well-regarded theatre programs in the country, including Juilliard, Yale School of Drama, and NYU TISCH School of the Arts. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all therapy, instead I tailor therapy to the individual needs of each person or couple I work with. I draw from cognitive-behavioral, relational, and trauma-informed strategies, while also integrating expressive arts and movement or somatic lenses when useful. And I always offer a steady and reliable presence.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that there is much use to be found in working toward accepting the things we cannot change; embracing courage to change the things we can; and developing wisdom to know the difference. And, there is often work to be done to figure out what is going on before you decide what might be changed in the first place - as well as powerful healing potential in joining with a therapist who can bear witness to this investigation and affirm and support you along the way.
