About My Clients

You may be carrying trauma, addiction, family conflict or a loss that has changed your life. Perhaps anxiety or depression is making it harder to cope, or you’re trying to support a child who is struggling too. I work with adults, young people and families, including people affected by child welfare or incarceration. You don’t need to clean up your story or know where to begin. We can start with what is happening now. To work with me, book a first session through my website.

My Background and Approach

I’ve worked in schools, inpatient facilities, people’s homes, prisons and outpatient clinics with children, adolescents, adults and families. I’ve mentored young people at risk, provided in-home therapy and advocated for families dealing with child welfare, substance use and incarceration. That experience means I’m comfortable hearing about the parts of life people often feel judged for. Therapy with me is real and relaxed. I listen more than I talk, but I’ll be honest, point out patterns and get straight to the point when it may help. I also use humor when it fits. We might explore how your past connects to what is happening now, work on coping skills or find practical ways to change a habit that isn’t working. I use approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT and trauma-focused therapy, adapting the work to your needs and how you learn best. Some days may be structured and others may need room for whatever has just happened.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My belief in therapy comes partly from my own experience with it. I know what it is like for being supported by another person to change how you see yourself and what feels possible. That experience is one reason I care so much about creating a space where people can speak honestly and know they aren’t alone. I don’t see asking for help as weakness, and I won’t expect you to feel strong all the time. I want to help you recognize the strength that is already there, including the ways you have kept going through circumstances other people may know nothing about. Healing can involve difficult conversations, but it can also include laughter, relief and moments when you begin to feel like yourself again.
