Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change the destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior and emotions. I work with clients to identify these thought/behavior patterns and replace maladaptive patterns to improve depression, anxiety and self-esteem.

Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a future-oriented, goal-directed approach to solving human problems of living. Clients describe what they wanted to happen in their lives (solutions), and I assist them in developing ways to use their personal resources to solve their problems. I encourage clients to believe that positive changes are always possible, and are encouraged to increase the frequency of current useful behaviors.

My expertise in treating comes from extensive professional training, clinical experience with lots of adult clients, and dealing with my own adult life challenges.

My expertise in treating anxiety comes from professional training in CBT, teaching clients how to interrupt the anxious response. Clients learn to reset their brain through a combination of physical and mental relaxation exercises. Shaped by the neuroscience of anxiety, these exercises work to reduce symptoms to a more manageable level.
