Adoption is beautiful. But it is built on loss. Each branch of the adoption triad will have loss and beauty intermingled. This loss can affect your marriage, career, self-esteem, parenting, or many other aspects of your life. I have over 9 years experience in the world of adoption, both international and domestic. I understand the complexities and would be honored to sit with you as you sort through how adoption has impacted your life.
The loss of a child carries such weight: grief, guilt, anger. There are so many what-if's. What if I'd made this choice? Or what if I had done that instead? This pain can cripple you. Or it can be on the back burner for years, slowly simmering away and keeping you from enjoying the life that you do have. I will be safe and supportive place for you to unpack your pain, regardless of how that pregnancy ended. Reach out and let's get the healing started: It's been long enough.
Play therapy is traditionally used for children but can be used for anyone of any age! It taps into our innate ability to heal ourselves through play and laughter and creative expression. If you are seeking services for a child under 12, child centered play therapy is my preferred modality as it allows the child the freedom to explore and express their emotions and experiences.
Sometimes it is hard to find words for our feelings and experiences. Sand Tray allows you to interact with your inner self and your lived story through the use of miniatures. Together you and I will then discuss the scene that you have created and allow your unconscious to be brought into the conscious so that you can learn from the part of you that was hidden. I have received training from Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, EMDRIA.
I believe that you are the expert on you. I have been trained to help you access your own innate wisdom. When we meet I will not tell you what to do, but will rather ask you questions and point out themes, to help you understand yourself and your situation.
