With warmth and depth, I invite clients to slow down, deepen their self-understanding, and move toward healing in mind, body and spirit. Areas of my work include: chronic anxiety, long-term depression, childhood adversities (implicit & explicit), intimate Relationships, psychedelic assisted psychotherapy, post-traumatic stress and adaptation, life transitions, spirituality
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach is intuitive, relational, and eclectic, integrating eastern and western theoretical and philosophical foundations. I provide psychodynamic-oriented, existentialism-inspired, and process-focused therapy for those seeking expansions in their human capacity and spiritual growth. I am dedicated to creating a space for our true selves to emerge beyond ordinary awareness and life's existential conditions. In our sessions, we will focus on understanding deeper roots of your psychic pain, behavioral patterns, and your sense of self in relations to past and current life's limitations. Eventually, my goal is to help you clarify and implement desired changes in your life. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Philosophy, Minor in Education – UC Davis Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology – Santa Clara University Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT # 159529) Member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Agony, angst, anger… In a world of inherent suffering and paradoxical entrapment, what would you let define who you are? I live with unshakable faith in the bravery of asking this poignant question. I believe the process of self-discovery is the realest gift of life, the path leading to our internal peace and freedom. My passion is to support you in becoming you, in this world we all live in - as your self, and as part of something greater. I work with individuals of all cultures, beliefs, professions, and self-identities. You can learn more about my practice at: vickyzhaopsychotherapy.com
