About My Clients
I work with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses as well as anger management concerns, and grief and loss. I offer relationship counseling for all couples, both traditional and non-traditional and I am LGBTQ-friendly.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in a variety of settings from private practice to community agencies and hospitals. I hold 2 Master's degrees one in Counseling and the other in Theology. I have been working in the Healthcare industry in a variety of capacities for over 30 years and as a fully Licensed Counselor since 2003. My approach to Therapy is a non-directive and person-centered approach, I believe that deep down the individual knows what they need but sometimes just needs a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings to discover their answers. In therapy, we will explore your thoughts and feelings about where you are in life and how those thoughts are helping or preventing you from being your best self. I will teach you calming techniques to use when you are feeling out of control and we explore new behaviors to try on until you find what works for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that as humans we are complex beings and that therapy is a complex process and there is no one answer or one approach that fits all. I am a listener first and I want to know you and where you are coming from. I believe in equality so if you ask if I am a team dog or cat? I will say, yes and... I enjoy gardening and yoga. I enjoy reading just about anything, playing video games, and even some tabletop role-playing games. I believe in having a good sense of humor and have developed the capacity to laugh at myself and not take myself too seriously. Therapy like life can be hard sometimes and we need laughter to get through the difficult times; so we will laugh in therapy.
