About My Clients
Veronyca sets out to establish psychologically safe bubbles wherever she goes, to enhance security for processing, growth, and transition management. She advocates for people living their lives at the intersections of multiple marginalities, including people who use drugs, people experiencing homelessness, and people engaged in survival sex work.
My Background and Approach
Veronyca's person-in-environment-centered approach encompasses topics such as harm reduction, substance use, co-occurring experiences, the human-animal bond, grief and bereavement, trauma cycles, Latine/immigrant issues, chronic illness, and crisis response to experiences including suicidal ideation/self-injurious behaviors. She uses behavioral interventions with a framework in the foundations of CBT, meeting folx where they are, using storytelling and meaning-making skills to process complex trauma and grief.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Veronyca’s family is from Costa Rica and she deeply understands and appreciates how culture influences social work practices, as well as how we communicate and process. She uses culturally responsive principles and practices to develop anti-racist frameworks with the use of relational value systems like familismo, and personalismo.
