About My Clients
I work with adults who may look capable and high-functioning on the outside, while inside feeling anxious, exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, insomnia, or trauma-related distress. My clients often want therapy that feels compassionate, practical, and focused on understanding patterns, building skills, and reconnecting with self-trust.
My Background and Approach
My counseling career began in 1994, when I became licensed as a psychologist in Chile. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, a CBTI-C through the Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and an EMDR Certified Therapist. I specialize in chronic insomnia, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, stress, burnout, perfectionism, and emotional overwhelm. I offer CBT-I for chronic insomnia, EMDR for distressing past experiences, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I also integrate CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based skills, nervous-system awareness, and practical tools for boundaries, rumination, and emotional regulation. My style is collaborative, structured, compassionate, and goal-oriented. Therapy with me is a place to feel understood, identify patterns clearly, and practice skills that support meaningful change between sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was born in Brazil and later lived for many years in Chile, experiences that deeply shaped my worldview and my sensitivity to culture, identity, belonging, and difference. I value diversity and understand that our emotional lives are influenced not only by our personal histories but also by culture, family expectations, immigration experiences, race, religion, gender, sexuality, social class, adversity, and microaggressions. I strive to provide a therapy space that is respectful, affirming, and culturally responsive. I am LGBTQ+-affirming and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.
