About My Clients
Do you feel like past wounds are preventing you from moving forward? Perhaps you have a difficult time understanding why you continue to repeat unhealthy behaviors or feel ashamed for not living up to your own or others' expectations. You probably feel a mixture of emotions: motivated to change, but afraid of feeling uncomfortable and vulnerable. Maybe you doubt your ability to change or question if talking about painful issues can actually help you feel better.
My Background and Approach
In therapy, it is my goal to provide a safe, nurturing environment for my clients to work through challenges and gain skills to enhance their lives. I have over fifteen years of experience working with the following: self-defeating behavior, unhealthy relationship patterns, addiction, difficulty with setting boundaries, body image issues, trauma and grief. I incorporate an eclectic approach which draws heavily on Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Family Systems Therapies in order to address the specific needs of each client. It is my goal to instill hope and empower my clients to enact change in their lives and access their inner strengths and resources.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've devoted much of my career to helping people who struggle with addiction and their loved ones. Additionally, I have extensive experience, both personally and professionally, with disordered eating and body image issues and work from a body positivity lens. My values include a commitment to racial justice issues and inclusivity. I come from a Christian background, but enjoy working with people from all faiths and spiritual beliefs on issues around spiritual identity.
