About My Clients

Are you motivated but feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck? Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, or life transitional issues? You may notice that these issues are interconnected and have been affecting your relationships with others, and most importantly, yourself. Anxiety can be terrifying, and I don't want you to suffer anymore. I look forward to teaching you tools to take your life back.

My Background and Approach

I practice from a person-centered, relational approach based on the philosophy that individuals desire significance and belonging. I believe that all individuals are experts in their own lives and take an active role in their own change process. My sessions revolve around my clients' unique needs - exploring and processing feelings and thoughts in the here-and-now. Life brings about challenges that can leave us feeling fragmented and disconnected. I view my role as empowering you to overcome these challenges by tapping into your innate desire to adapt, change, and grow, as well as helping you identify negative thinking or behavior patterns that no longer serve you. Rather than talking in circles, each session is focused on progression, learning how to continue towards goals and move forward from where we started.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My dedication and commitment as a counselor stem from my passion for understanding the complex relationships between trauma, anxiety, and depression. As a teacher, I became acutely aware of families' and children’s many unmet needs around mental health and its effects. In addition, my own parents’ addiction and unaddressed mental and physical health concerns overshadowed my childhood. Losing my mother when I was eleven and having an absent father, I bounced around homes. I dealt with feelings of abandonment and rejection from an early age. I am no stranger to the lifelong road we walk in our mental health journey. As a Latina who grew up in a multicultural community, I understand mental health professionals' positive impact when embracing their clients' diversity. I make it a point to participate in marches and community actions that support the LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter community. If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message.
