About My Clients
Most people I work with have done therapy before and felt stuck. They come in with OCD, intrusive thoughts and phobias, with sexual concerns or desire differences, or with relationships that do not fit the usual mold, including polyamorous and kink-involved partners. Many are artists, gamers, queer and trans folks, and neurodivergent people who are tired of explaining themselves. I see teens 13 and up, adults, couples, families and polycules, in person in St. Paul or online in Minnesota.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota and a board-approved clinical supervisor. I hold an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I am certified in Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD and phobias and in Narrative Therapy, and I completed sex therapy training through the Sexual Health Alliance, where I also presented at their 10th international conference. The approach we use depends on what you came in with, not on what I prefer. Alongside structured work I use creative tools: songwriting, story writing, art and gaming groups. For people who freeze when asked to name a feeling out loud, these are often the faster route. Expect homework. Real change happens out in the wild of life, not only in session. Sessions are a place to feel safe being yourself, on the hard days too, while we build up what is working and challenge what is not until you reach the goals you came in with.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am against all forms of discrimination, and this practice is sex-positive, kink-aware and affirming of LGBTQIA+, non-monogamous and neurodivergent clients and of people who do sex work. You will not be asked to shrink any part of yourself here. Outside the office I am a musician and author, so creativity is not a side topic in my work. I love cats and my axolotl, hip-hop, metal and EDM, biking, anime and Magic: The Gathering. I am less fond of winter, traffic and apples.
