About My Clients
I treat patients using cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT is a goal-focused therapy that involves techniques like learning coping strategies, tracking thinking patterns, and changing daily routines. You might be a good fit for this type of treatment if you have a particular set of symptoms you'd like to reduce (e.g., depression, anxiety, insomnia) or if you have a specific life stressor you'd like to address (e.g., experience of physical or sexual violence, combat, exposure to trauma at work).
My Background and Approach
I have particular expertise in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I provide two types of evidence-based PTSD treatment: prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy. When a treatment is evidence-based, that means that a number of research studies show that the many of the patients who complete the treatment experience some kind of reduction in symptoms. I also offer cognitive processing therapy in a massed or condensed format. In massed-CPT you complete a full course of treatment in a single workweek (i.e., two sessions a day Monday through Friday). Completing massed-CPT may result in you experiencing relief from you symptoms much more quickly than if you attend CPT sessions once a week.
