About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples, and families with a variety of different mental health issues. I am able to help with ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, as well as other diagnoses. I am trained in working with your trauma with EMDR and trauma-focused CBT, and am working on training with sand tray therapy. I am certified in therapeutic table top gaming, and a complete geeky nerd. I am well versed in working with the LGBTQ+ community, and am an avid supporter of LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and other marginaliz
My Background and Approach
I look at therapy as us going down a river in a boat together. You are driving the boat, and I am helping you figure out how to get around obstacles and deal with rough water. I also tell people that therapy is never a closed door. There is always an opening for therapy. I believe that in order to feel better, it is important for everyone in the therapy room to have open and honest communication. This fosters trust in the therapy space, and helps clients move toward health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to change and grow at any point in their lives. I don't think there is a limit to the ability for human capacity. I believe that the reason we develop mental health issues is because of past experiences and things that we have picked up along the course of life. I believe in the ability of every human to change how they think, behave, and react to things, and to replace those with healthier ways of doing things. I have experienced a lot of trauma in my lifetime, and learned that I can grow and move forward through my own therapy journey. I believe that hockey is one of the greatest sports on the planet, and that the Minnesota Wild will (one day) actually win the Stanley Cup. I will also not judge you based on your sport/team of choice. I don't judge anyone (I went to therapy school, not law school). I make it a point to attend and participate in marches and events that support my LGBTQ community, BIPOC community, and others.
