My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a mother of color myself, I know firsthand the unique challenges and experiences that mothers of color face. Becoming a mother rocked me! I had no idea what had been waiting on the other side of Matrescence (the adolescent version of becoming a mother). In the last few years, I have dug into Matrescence and have learned everything that I can to make sense of the motherhood stuff that isn't discussed enough. The stuff that never comes up in the "what to expect" books, or in the mommy groups and forums. We don't talk enough about the developmental, emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual process of becoming a mother and being a mother. All the changes and shifts, growth, and transformation that come with going from pre-Mama you to maternal you. So we're going to change that in our work together. Because I believe mothers need a space where they can feel safe, brave, seen, and heard in their daily struggles and wonders of motherhood.
