About My Clients
Many of my clients start therapy because they have survived abuse or sexual assault and are having trouble feeling like themselves again, or they are experiencing anxiety, depression, or relationship trouble which may be connected to their adaptations to a childhood environment that didn't meet their (physical or emotional) needs appropriately.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in helping people heal and recover from trauma, whether it’s from a single major life event (such as a car accident or sexual assault) or ongoing interpersonal abuse (for instance, growing up in a chaotic home environment or experiencing persistent invalidation of one’s thoughts and feelings). I believe in the benefits of evidence-based practice, which means combining the best-available methods that are supported by research with each individual’s preferences and unique circumstances in mind. My style is warm and accepting, and I like to work collaboratively with each person. My goal is to help people move beyond merely reducing symptoms, and towards making their lives more meaningful and fulfilling. Simply put, I want to help you not only survive, but thrive.
