About My Clients
Many of my clients come with issues that they feel would burden others - things like overthinking, inability to shake depressive symptoms, or just not being able to handle life right now. I get it and I'm able to hear your concerns and provide a safe sounding board for you to have insight and gain skills you need to make your life what you want it to be.
My Background and Approach
I've been a counselor for over ten years and I use a person centered approach and frequently use cognitive behavior therapy with my adult clients. I also see adolescents and children as young as three. I frequently see families to help parents with parenting issues and am able to support them in improving communication and boundaries in the household. Adult clients usually see me for anxiety, depression, and phase of life issues including parenting problems. My teen clients frequently come to therapy also for anxiety or depression, but with added concerns of school and peer relationship issues. The younger children I see often present with anxiety, problems related to being neurodivergent, or behavior concerns at home or school.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I really believe that most people struggle with a mental health concern at some point in their life. This can be due to trauma experiences, but it can also be because people believe the messages we get from our society that we have to be, look, and live a certain way and that doesn't work for most people. I'm happy to work with clients on exploring their belief systems around patriarchy, misogyny, racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, and toxic masculinity. When we address how these issues impact our own and other's ability to prosper and be healthy, we can move towards creating a healthier and more equitable world for everyone.
