About My Clients
I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, relationships issues, life changes, and the overall heaviness many people feel right now. My sessions often involve wrestling with the big questions - what is happening, where do I go from here, what now, and my personal favorite, WTF. Through our work together, you will learn how to better connect with the people in your life, you will increase your ability to have some compassion for yourself, and you’ll gain the confidence to create life you love.
My Background and Approach
I have over twenty years of experience working with people from all walks of life. I never get tired of connecting with my clients, listening to their stories, and marveling at their growth. I draw from a variety of therapeutic models, but I often use a mix of cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance commitment therapy. We might also do some journaling, deep breathing, and grounding exercises. Feel free to roll your eyes when I suggest these things. Many people do, but they usually admit that these activities are very helpful.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When people ask me what causes/issues are most important to me, I often say, “I’m a social worker, so I care about all of the causes.” The truth is I care about people - all people, especially those who are marginalized or who feel as if their voice is not heard. I spend two Fridays each month volunteering at the Iron Gate food pantry. I love connecting with their guests and contributing to the Iron Gate mission of supporting people who are experiencing food insecurity.
