I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty in regulating emotions, life stressors, and adjustment or life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I believe that deciding to attend therapy is the first and most courageous decision that would lead to a positive change. Growing up in a South Asian family, a minority culture, has its challenges, especially the stigma around therapy. I believe that breaking that stigma and deciding to attend therapy is an extremely courageous decision. I use several treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy with a mindfulness approach that will help you recognize and alter your thought process. By using a person-centered approach, I understand your individual strengths and cultural strengths and utilize them to help you recognize your hidden skills to foster a positive change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a South Asian therapist, I want to help break that stigma around mental health and encourage people from the South Asian community to seek therapy and not view it as a taboo that we were raised to believe. I believe that therapy does not only target specific serious problems but that it can also be useful to help regulate our emotions, create boundaries, and cope with day-to-day stressors. Therapy can help identify specific triggers, and help us be more self-aware of our behaviors and responses.
