About My Clients
With everything happening around you, it may seem like you're drowning. You thought maybe it's just a part of life and you'll get over it. With things spiraling, you may feel there is no way to turn it around. You're feeling angry, depressed, uncertain and hopeless. You expected your life to be more fulfilling than it is right now. You want to feel like the person you're meant to be; happy, confident, focused, and excited about life.
My Background and Approach
I've been working in community mental health for 5 years. I've worked with diverse populations working in South Florida. The clients I serve mostly are navigating life through social injustice. Some of my clients struggled with mental health and substance addiction. I take my time to learn about the challenges my clients face. I teach clients to take control of their lives. We discuss how they make a difference in their lives and the lives of other people. I aid in bringing out the light that the clients have. We work on developing skills to reduce anxiety, depression and anger.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Change comes when a person is ready. I often ask people why they want to make the changes. If the answer is not "I want the changes for me" it makes the process difficult. Everyone deserves to live their lives in peace. Obstacles shape us as humans and our coping mechanisms are present to us daily. I currently devote time to people of color with severe mental illness.
