About My Clients
I work with self-aware young adults and bicultural/immigrant clients navigating anxiety, overthinking, depression, trauma, and identity-related stress. Many feel high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed inside—struggling with self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and relationship patterns. In therapy, we build clarity, emotional resilience, healthier boundaries, and a steadier sense of self in a warm, collaborative space.
My Background and Approach
Alice (Tzu-Yu) Kan, LMHC, is a bilingual (English/Mandarin) therapist who offers a calm, supportive space for young adults and bicultural/immigrant clients navigating anxiety, overthinking, depression, trauma, and identity stress. She holds an MEd and MA in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. Drawing from CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), strength-based, and person-centered approaches, Alice helps clients gently untangle patterns that keep them stuck, settle an overactive nervous system, and build practical tools for everyday life. Her style is warm, collaborative, and paced to your needs—so you can feel understood while also moving toward meaningful change. Together, you’ll work on easing anxious spirals, strengthening self-worth, creating healthier boundaries, and developing a steadier sense of clarity and self-trust.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should feel like a place where you don’t have to perform—where you can be honest, messy, and human, and still be met with respect. I care deeply about supporting immigrants and bicultural individuals as they navigate identity, belonging, family expectations, and the emotional weight of “starting over.” My work is grounded in warmth, cultural humility, and anti-stigma values, and I aim to make mental health support feel accessible and nonjudgmental. I also share gentle, practical tools on social media to help people manage anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt in everyday life. In our work together, my hope is that you feel safe, empowered, and more connected to yourself.
