About My Clients
Being trained to approach mental health from a whole-health perspective, I specialize in helping folks with chronic illness, chronic pain, histories of trauma, mood disorders, and experiencing major life transitions. I seek to honor the diverse worldviews, experiences, and identities that each client comes with and believe that clients are their own experts. I am committed to empowering client strengths to craft collaborative, individualized, and culturally responsive treatment plans.
My Background and Approach
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Auburn University. I went on to obtain a master’s degree and Ph.D. at the University of Tulsa, gaining valuable expertise in working with underserved populations for treatment of various mood disorders, substance use, chronic illness, and chronic pain. I completed my internship at the University of Washington, School of Medicine, working in a level-1 trauma hospital before completing his post-doctoral training at University of Vanderbilt Medical Center. I have work gained expertise in a variety of evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based intervention (MBI), problem-solving therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and trauma-focused therapy.
