About My Clients
I specialize in working with autism and accompanied mental health problems like anxiety, depression, social skills building, emotion regulation, executive functioning, and others. You do not need to have an official autism diagnosis to struggle with autistic-like symptoms.
My Background and Approach
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and loved it here so much that after seven years away, living in various western and mid-western states I moved back to Bellingham, the home of my Alma mater (Western). I received my BA in Humanities from Western in 2010, my MS in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2017, and my Mental Health Counselor License (LMHC) from the State of Washington in 2019. I also received training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in 2017 during my graduate studies. As the saying goes "if you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person." Counseling for autistic individuals is no different. Each client is unique and is treated as such. My approach is an eclectic mix of CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapies. I also offer virtual social coaching through the Charisma program.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Throughout my grade school years many of my friends would come to me for advice with their problems. I never gave it much thought until years later, when I found myself in a masters program for professional counseling. Life is an interesting, windy path that may take us to many places we have never thought of, and I have found, that people usually end up right where they need to be. For years I struggled to find a career that would speak to who I am and allow me to help others at the same time. I kept asking myself, ‘Why do people do the things that they do?’. I became a counselor specializing in the autistic brain and behaviors in order to help people answer that very question for themselves so that they can find lasting inner peace in their lives.
