About My Clients
In my current practice, I see individual adults and adolescents who struggle with a wide variety of presenting issues. Some of my clinical interests include, but are not limited to: self-criticism, perfectionism, feelings of unworthiness, childhood trauma / C-PTSD, difficulties in relationships, social anxiety, Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), existential issues, and mental health in the AAPI+ (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community.
My Background and Approach
The therapy I offer is based on humanistic, experiential, and psychodynamic principles. Jargon aside, my main goal as a therapist is to accompany you through a process of inner exploration. I will encourage you to slow down and notice your thoughts and feelings, identify your patterns in relationships, gently approach the painful parts of your experience, and experiment with new ways of being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being human is messy and hard, and all too often, we can feel alone in facing our suffering. We feel isolated, cut off, like nobody else gets what we’re going through–whether that be grief, depression, systemic oppression, trauma, or any other human affliction. While the original experiences were hard, our sense of aloneness makes them worse; they stick with us and shape the way we interact with the world, like tightly-wound knots that never get a chance to loosen. As your therapist, I aim to approach these areas of suffering with you, side-by-side, and begin to untangle those knots together. Both as a therapist and as a client, I find this work uniquely moving and inspiring. As hard as it is to be human, I also see so much beauty in our common humanity and our shared strivings towards healing, growth, and connection.
