About My Clients
I see individual adults and couples who feel confused, afraid, ashamed or curious about their gender, sexuality or relationship structure. Some also want to improve communication, feel more secure, or mourn the loss of a beloved person, pet, or home, including by suicide, accident, disaster or violence. Some clients also labor on the front lines for justice, autonomy, self-determination and collective liberation amid personal trauma and systemic oppression.
My Background and Approach
During sessions, I draw on my anti-oppressive values, my history organizing for racial justice, and my personal endeavors to square my minoritized identities (e.g., Jewish, neurodivergent, gender-non-conforming, anarchist/leftist) with my privileged identities (e.g., assigned male at birth, socialized as a man, racialized as white, temporarily classified as non-disabled). In short, I want to get free, and I want to help you do that, too. I help clients speak from core emotional experiences to break unhelpful cycles. I help them set boundaries, act on their values, tell empowered stories of post traumatic growth, and continue old bonds in new ways after loss. I also help clients connect with radical histories and affirming communities, especially LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and/or non-monogamous clients. They grow resilience, access strength, build self-love, learn acceptance and change skills, and embody joy. And I help them understand and express the full range of emotions along the way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe life is a journey from not knowing to knowing, and I accompany clients in that endeavor. I believe hardships often come from the gap between knowing the world we want to live in and having to live in the world as we know it right now. And I believe all people are capable of building that new life - that new world - in the shell of the old. I believe therapy can be revolutionary if it helps my clients participate in radical, collective direct action against hierarchy and authoritarianism. I believe we can return to a life and world without racialized capitalism, cisheteropatriarchy, white male supremacy, mononormativity, police, courts and prisons, christian hegemony, settler colonialism, and ecocide. Figuring out how to do that with others is why I go to therapy myself, and it’s also why, outside of being a therapist, I'm also into dancing, rock climbing, and weird performance things. If you think we’d be a good fit, message me so we can find out (for free)
