Grief and loss impact every aspect of our lives, and yet as a society, we are taught to ignore it or "get over it" in a short 30 min episode. Many businesses only allow people 1-2 days off after the death of a close family member. When people get fired, they are expected to jump right back into the job search. So many of our struggles can be traced back to unexpressed grief. Through expression and talk, we can create meaning and integrate it into who we are instead of trying to disown it.

As women in today's society, we get mixed messages. Sometimes it's too much. #metoo shed light on many women's struggles, but often those conversations continue to be triggering, antagonistic, and/or shaming -- and sadly many still do not believe us. We hear that we have to be strong but also gentle, be assertive but not a "Karen"; smile but don't be an airhead; be tough but not a b*tch; be pretty but don't look like you tried. I can help you sort through it.

I use EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy) to help you make sense of your deepest emotions. We often get stuck in internal cycles of self-criticism or fear that keep us feeling small. Together, we will process these feelings to help you move from a place of emotional distress to a place of 'secure base' within yourself, allowing you to show up more confidently in your life and relationships.

Somatic Experiencing is a body-centered approach to treating PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that, rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions associated with a traumatic event, expands to include the natural bodily (somatic) responses. Just as animals in the wild overcome threat responses, we can too.

Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go. Using Somatic Experiencing, I guide you in tuning into your physical sensations at a pace that feels manageable. This gentle 'bottom-up' approach helps resolve the physical symptoms of trauma—like anxiety, shutdown, or hypervigilance—so you can feel more grounded and present in your daily life. Together, we work to gently release stored tension, restoring your body’s natural ability to self-regulate and feel safe again.
