Depression is a common and painful feeling. When we explore it, we often find that it makes sense in light of other current or past concerns. To help, we'll look at your beliefs about yourself and your situation, as well as coping you have tried. We'll also consider gradually increasing your activity level, dialing back a reliance on short-term distractions, and identifying your most deeply held values. Doing so can help you live a more meaningful and affirming life.

I am passionate about helping people experiencing general worries, panic attacks, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive problems. Nearly all anxiety involves overestimating the likelihood of something bad happening and underestimating our ability to deal with it. As a result, people struggling with any type of anxiety often rely on avoidance to cope. Whether this is overt or more subtle, we'll help you gain new learning that increases your engagement in your life and reduces your avoidance.

Insomnia can be frustrating, consequential, and sometimes seemingly insurmountable. With the help of the gold-standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, we will gather a lot of information about your sleep and sleep-related habits. We will then figure out your optimal sleep schedule, explore your thoughts about sleep, and review helpful guidance to help you return to and maintain more restful and consistent sleep. It can get better!

I have received in-depth training and ongoing consultation in Exposure Therapy as I support clients. The research is clear: exposure works. I have experience using this approach with clients experiencing many forms of anxiety. I bring a knowledge of the model and a readiness to be your cheerleader and coach, but I am also flexible in this work. Together, we'll figure out how far you are comfortable pushing yourself and where your priorities for treatment lie.

I have extensive training in CBT, both generally and specifically for insomnia. I draw on my experience, training, and regular dives into the research to help you benefit from this well-established therapy. CBT is structured, but I approach it flexibly. In some sessions we'll follow a crisp agenda. In others, we'll keep the conversation more fluid. You'll learn more about your thoughts, your emotions, and your behaviors. We'll start with your concerns now but also look to the past when needed.
