About My Clients
The people I support come from many life stages and circumstances. Among them, I work with university students, baristas, veterinary technicians, software developers, managers, and organizational directors. Some of my clients are very familiar with the mental health care system, and for others, therapy is completely new. I welcome the opportunity to work with people who have tried therapy in the past and not found it helpful.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master of Social Welfare (MSW) degree from UCLA. In my internships I worked with children and families involved in the child welfare system, as well as with adults experiencing other severe psychological distress. I have also worked in several states and spent time in Central America in a range of roles. As a social worker I spent five years with nonprofit programs, providing psychotherapy and other support to adults who were living on the street, using substances, or facing criminal charges. All of these roles inform the compassion I feel for people with a broad range of life experiences. In sessions, we'll help you become more aware of different parts of your experience; we'll explore factors that prevent you from living a life that is aligned with the things you value most; and I will compassionately encourage you to consider pushing yourself to return to things you were avoiding, or to consider new avenues that seemed inaccessible.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When I'm not working I am often hiking, reading, spending time with my family, or cooking.
